How can I keep my cats out of the baby’s crib?

There’s no door on her nursery so I can’t close it. I filled the crib with a few boxes and bags so that if the cat were to jump in it, she would jump back out, but this morning she jumped in there, anyway. How can I keep her out of there? I can’t keep an eye on her twenty four hours a day and I don’t want her getting in there once the baby’s here.

You can purchase different types of gadgets that are for keeping animals off of couches ets. Some look like a pad and can go into the crib when baby is not in the crib. Talk to your local pet store and see what they have to offer. They are not cheap but this is for your baby’s health so it would be worth the investment.

you can put a plain a sheet over the whole thing so when your cats jumps she will think she is ganna land (((ON TOP ))) but when she lands she falls right in(she wont like that)…….worked like a charm for us (((11 month old)))or you can simply buy a little water gun(great aim) i wouldn’t suggest a sports bottle they spray too much water…..(((( AND MAKE A LOT OF MESS))))

What about a mesh cover that goes over the top of the crib? Or a baby gate tall enough so kitty can’t jump over? Or rig up a screen door for the room?

maybe you can try buying your cat one of those cat scratch / bed post things a tall one so the cat has something warm of her own to lay in of course the cat jumps up there to sleep it’s probably warm and cozy.

I would get a door - for fire safety reasons alone, you should have doors on all your rooms.
the rumours of cats smothering babies intentionally is incorrect but I understand your concern, you can spray with Cat Repellants but they need to be reapplied every couple of days..
cats like cozy places.. and they like to be high up,, does she have cat furniture??

I would suggest hanging mosquito netting or some other sort of mesh from the ceiling, down over the crib. It has a really nice look to it, and it should discourage the cat from jumping into the crib. Also if you have bright ceiling lights, it’ll keep your baby from looking directly into them if s/he happens to look up.
Be sure you hang the netting very firmly from the ceiling (so it can’t fall down) and that it’s got an easy opening so you can get at your baby without fumbling with the netting.
Another option would be to make a netting cover for the crib, fastened at the back end of the crib and hanging over the front end. Sew on some ties at the corners. If Kitty jumps up, she’ll get her claws tangled in the mesh!
There are commercial products to keep cats out of babies’ cribs; but it’s pretty darn easy to make your own.
You can also try training your cat to keep out of the crib, the same way you train her to keep off the counter… water sprayers or some such, whenever she gets near; or try hanging tin cans with pennies in them from the crib; they’ll rattle noisily when your cat jumps up.
Oh, one more thing: Once the baby’s around, don’t ignore the cat… she’s likely to get pretty depressed if that happens. Cats need lovin’ too

Cats and babies dont mix u need to get a door on that room or put the baby in another room.Cats smoother babies and they can kill them.
