How can I keep my toddler from falling out of her crib?
Baby Beddinglopku asked:
My daughter just crawled out of her playpen today, so I know I can’t use it anymore. I am now worried that she will try getting out of her crib in the middle of the night or something. Is there any kind of safety product that stops toddlers from crawling out of their cribs for? My daughter is 16 months.

Make sure there are no crib bumpers that will allow her to climb…
When my daughter started doing this I put her in a toddler bed. It was hard at first to get her to stay in bed, but we got it eventually and it worked out because I wasn’t sleepless every night worried about her

Might think about going to a toddler bed. Once they figure out they can get out its over. You can get a rail for the side of the toddler bed that keeps them from rolling out of bed. Its safer for them to tumble out of a toddler bed than fall from climbing out of the crib.

Once your daughter starts to crawl out of the crib it means that she is now ready for a different sleeping arrangements.
If you can keep the side down on the crib or even a toddler bed.
With her crawling she can get hurt.

I know they sell this kind of tent top to attach to the crib. It keeps them from geting out. They sell them on amazon.com. It is called: Cozy Crib tent. We have it and has worked well. Good luck!

Ana K suggested the crib tent, and it’s the best thing ever, worth every penny. My son could get out of the crib at 20 months, but he emotionally wasn’t ready for a bed. It’s keeps them safe!
We got ours at Walmart, arrived in a few days.

Buy a crib tent–it’s mesh and it attaches to all four sides of your crib and has a dome over the top with a zippered compartment. You unzip it and set your daughter in, then zip it back up. It’s see thru and completely safe. Much safer than a toddler bed for a 16 mo old.

You can help prevent her getting out of the crib if you lower the mattress all the way and don’t put in anything she can climb on. But all toddlers eventually do learn how to get out of the crib anyway. When that does happen, it is time to switch to a bed

In addition to the crib tent (which my kids could tear apart in two seconds) and transitioning to a toddler bed, flip the crib around at night before putting the child down. The other side of the crib should be a little higher and may help prevent climbing out. But plan on a real bed soon.
