How do I get my 3 month old to sleep in the crib?
Baby Beddingtembry1 asked:
I have a 3 month old son who currently sleeps in his carrier at night. We have tried to get him to sleep in a bassinet, pack-n-play and crib. As soon as we lay him down his eyes pop open and he starts screaming, not just crying, screaming. Our ped. checked his ears and they are fine…Any suggestions?

we had the same problem - our son would only sleep in his bouncer or carseat - so we put the bouncer and car seat in the crib for a week or two until he got used to be in his own room - we also had to add some “white noise” for him but now he sleeps in his crib from 8:30 pm - 6 am Good luck - its a VERY stressful thing for a new mommy to go through

It seems like your baby prefers to be elevated. Could be acid reflux. There are sleep positioners that you can buy that will keep the baby tilted slightly upright to help with this.

I had a similar situation my doctor told me to try taking a shirt that I had worn and roll it up and put it in the crib with the baby so they feel like your there with them but don’t put it to close to there face,I did that with soft baby lullaby’s playing in the room worked for me hope it helps

Oh gosh! We have gone through the same thing, except the only place to get him to sleep was our bed, which was one thing we said we would never do…..But, when it comes down to it, we needed sleep :O) We have been trying our little guy in his crib since he was 3 mos too, he is 4.5 mos now. He sleeps well (still wakes up lots) sometimes, but we just keep him in there. We do not let him cry it out. We would hold him and when he was just about to sleep we wouldlay him down and the screaming began too. We pick him up, soothe him, and start all over again, eventually he will be tired enough to sleep in his crib for a few minutes to hours, but he is in his crib. We find the most times he has problems sleeping in his crib is when he’s teething. He has two now and is sleeping more hours….Maybe he will take a break from teething and we can get more sleep. :O) It does take time for tehm to get use to it and I know you don’t want to hear it but persistance is key….Good luck!

I would put a really cool mobile in his crib (my daughter loves the fisher price aquarium one) and put him in his crib for a few days for a few minutes to enjoy the mobile. Let him get used to being in his crib for some fun play time. Once he learns the crib is a safe place to be, start getting him to nap there during the day. Slowly transition him there at night.
