How do you attach a crib bumper?
Baby BeddingSusan S asked:
Like most cribs, I have a crib where the one side slides down. So where do I attach it that will allow me to still slide the one side up and down? There are bars on all four sides. Do I attach it with the one side up so that it is uneven when I put the bar down, if I even can put the bar down?

I had one like that - I attached it to the head and the side that didnt slide down and then the spare piece just folded onto the back of the cot and attached - otherwise I couldnt slide the side down without it all crumpling up

Attach it to the bars that move. That way when you put the side down the bumper ties will let the side just slide down them.

We had one like this too. I tied the ties on the side that dropped, to the rails that were going to move instead of the main post. Around the rest I just tied wherever they reached. This way the strings should just slide up and back down agian. If it doesn’t just experiment. Baby gear can really be frustrating! Good luck!

Susan, my Mom and Aunt (10 kids between them) said that they never lowered the crib side, so they attached it right to that side. The mattress was set higher so that they didn’t need to. By the time the baby is rolling over, when you lower the mattress, they had to remove the bumper anyway.

You attach it to the bars that move also, you just don’t tie them so tight that they don’t slide when you lower the rail.

you tie it to the rails and it goes down with the rail that is what we did

I say just leave the side up, and attach it to the bottom. In my experience, once you set the baby down, the sound and/or movement from putting the side up never fails to wake him or her.
