How to ELIMINATE the smell of wood/ varnish from the BABY CRIB?
Baby BeddingCandy2 asked:
I bought the baby crib a month ago, I already installed it. I put on airy place, but the smell still so strong. I tried to clean with the wet towel (not so wet) too.
Is anybody has experience to eliminate the smell?
I need the advice fast coz my baby is coming next week.

Air it out more, and it has to be aired out to outside air. So if the crib is setup in the nursary, close off the nursary and open two windows with the crib between them. Place a box fax (like on of those $10-15 ones you can find at WalMart and Lowes) in one of the windows to draw more air accross the crib.
It might take DAYS to get the varnish smell out of the wood doing even this.

Pick a nice and sunny day and push the crib outside and let it sit for a couple of hours in the middle of the day. Being in the heat will make the smell come out quicker. My crib has been thru 2 kids and if you smell of it (like walk up to it and sniff) you can still smell it. I would also open the windows in the nursery that way you get any smell that’s in the room out. You may also want to try some febreeze or air effects in the room also, it wouldn’t hurt anything.

I agree you should move it outside if you can.
Otherwise try wiping it down with a 1 part vinegar to 10 part water solution. Also buy some baking soda boxes and stick them in the crib.
