How to get my baby to sleep in his crib?
Baby BeddingDuck asked:
My 8 month old son has always been pretty good about sleeping but about 3 weeks ago he was sick and ever since then he refuses to sleep in his crib. I can’t put him in there before he goes to sleep because he will cry, and if he does fall asleep and I put him in there, he wakes up crying
Please help. This is getting really hard!
I will NOT let him cry it out. I have tried his mobile and soothing sounds.

You may just have to let him cry for a little while. If that doesnt work try getting a sound machine or something that projects onto the ceiling so he can watch it and hopefully that puts him to sleep

He may be a bit insecure and anxious because of what he went through. Try putting him in a cradle (if you can get one) next to your bed, or move his crib next to your bed if there is room. Or, if you have to, sleep on a cot or reclining chair next to where his crib is for a few nights. That way you can hear him well and wake up right away so you can reach out and touch him, pat or rub his back, and talk softly to him as soon as he wakes up. That should reassure him and make him feel secure. If you can do that very quickly, he won’t cry so much and get himself all wide awake and the sooner he should fall back asleep. You can even doze with your hand on his back if he’s not actively crying.
Do have patience. I know it’s hard but if you show your frustration it will only make him feel more anxious and insecure which will cause this phase to last longer. He should go back to being his old self before long. Just keep reminding yourself how precious he is.
