How do I stop my 2 year old from taking off his diaper and going to the bathroom on the floor?
DiaperLonster asked:
Every morning when I go into his room, he is already awake and has taken off his diaper and has urinated on the carpet. We are trying to potty train but nothing seems to be working. He takes the diaper off even if it is totally dry! I don’t think my poor carpet can take much more, even potty training our puppy wasn’t this hard!

thats really bad… but uve got to sit and explain everything clearly… even though he may not understand what u say he will understand ur gestures… besides that u can punish him in a small way if he does that…. u have to disipline or else thety go way out o hand… like my little brother.

Put him to bed in a onsie type shirt, the ones with the snaps.
As for potty training, it takes time. And alot of patience with some kids. Let him watch, “Once Upon A Potty”… They sell it at Babies/Toys R Us. There is even a part just for parents at the end. Get him a book on it.
Good luck

Put a pair of shorts over his diaper and try to get up before him so you can get him to the potty straight away. If he does pee in the floor make him help you clean everything up. Try and tell him all the time big boys go in the potty. Reward him when he goes in the potty with a sticker or something small.

You won’t like part of this, but set your alarm so you are awake before he is. That’s the part you won’t like. Then, get a coffee can and try to get him to wee in it. It makes a great tinkling sound, and most boys love it. I actually would try to get him to use the can the first few times, after a bath. They often have to wee during or right after, and all you need is to have that coffee can handy. Then when he does it, reward him. We used mini M&M’s. This worked on my brother, and I tried it on my son. Works great. Also, take a can with you in the car. Consistency is the key to potty training. If you’re driving down the highway and he says he has to go, pull over and let him. I can’t tell you how many parking lots my son used. Good luck

he’s letting you know that he is ready to be potty trained…set your alarm earlier and go in immediately and take him to the potty…praise praise praise….you truly may have to get up very early for a few days- but in the long run, you’ll be saving $$$ in diapers and carpet cleaning

Well he obviously does not want to be in diapers anymore, so that’s one step in the right direction. My suggestion is to take him shopping for “big boy undies” with his favorite characters on them & tell him that they are for big boys who go on the potty. Making potty time fun helps too. I got a potty chair that looked like a little throne & made music when peed in, & make sure you clap & praise like crazy when he does go in the potty. Hope this info helps!

Put him in a onsie or a sleeper (backwards so the zipper is up the back) so he can’t get it off.
Or, if he’s only doing this when he wakes up - you get up earlier to catch him waking up and take him straight to the bathroom when he gets up.
