Should I place the cloth diaper pail in the nursery or bathroom?
DiaperHello asked:
I am thinking of placing it in the bathroom b/c it would be more convenient after “dunking” the diaper in the toilet, right?
I am thinking of placing it in the bathroom b/c it would be more convenient after “dunking” the diaper in the toilet, right?
Or, should I have the taller diaper pail in the bathroom and a shorter trash can in the nursery (for wet diapers and wipes)?
Thanks!

I think you should place it where ever you are going to change the baby. You will have your hands full and if you have everything in one place, including the diaper pail, it will make it much more convenient.

You want to keep something like that outside. Nowhere near the nursery or bathroom. The germs and bacteria can easily develop and transmit through airborn activity. This is just nasty. So my suggestion to you is this:
Clean the diapers inside with a set of mask and gloves, of course. Then, take the ‘finished product’ outside into their respective bins. Problem solved.

The diaper pail will most likely be covered, so it’s safe to be put anywhere. Put it wherever you change your baby. You can even have it in both places, since you’ll most likely rinse the poo off of the diapers and you’ll be in the bathroom for that purpose. My pail is in the bathroom.

we used to have ours in the bathroom, even though it had a lid it could still smell, especially if it was warm

I kept mine in the bathroom, for a couple of reasons. You’re right about the whole dunking in the toilet thing much easier to have the pail by the toilet. Also, I normally had the pail half full of water and about half a cup of vinegar, so if it spilled in the bathroom not so big a deal as in the nursery. Another reason is that when your baby is older, they are more likely to get into the pail if it in the nursery as you prolbaly don’t let them crawl around the bathroom. As for the “hassel” of going to the bathroom instead of just disposing in the nursery, you probably want to wash your hands too.
