What diapers are best for babies with sensitive skin and have many diaper rashes?
Diaperbaby0906 asked:
My daughter has had a diaper rash for almost 3 weeks. We have seen the doctor several times!! Im just wondering if the diaper itself could make a difference. I have used huggies and we are now using pampers baby dry.

my daughter has horrible senstive skin, i still have to use baby detergent and shes almost two. the only thing that works for us is the pamperes. YES the diapers could make a big difference, strange but true. HUggies did a number on her last time, she had blisters on top of her vagina so it wasnt just normal diaper rash. it took us weeks to get it to clear and it was so painful for her, i felt soo bad

My boys have a reaction to every diaper except Huggies. It could be the diaper, the doctor would have told you if it was a yeast infection etc. Give the baby’s butt lots of air (put her on a towel or just chase her if she moves), oatmeal baths, and more air are good helps.

I use Pampers with my son. Luvs, for whatever reason, gave him horrible rashes. Change your wipes to the Natural ones if you don’t use them already. And give her plenty of “no diaper time” so she gets air on her tush.

My daughter has very sensitive skin and gets diaper rashs very easily. We have found that Luvs work the best for her.She still breaks out a bit but we use bag balm for that and she gets cleared up right away.

I use pampers. My daughter had the awfulest diaper rash and we were trying to cure it. To our suprise she was alergic to the diaper rash cream. All of it. Balmax, Desitin ,Generic. The doc told me to lay her in the floor for 10- 15 min a day without a diaper untill it goes away. It worked and thats what I do everytime.

You might want to be evaluating the foods the baby is eating. Also, the baby wipes have soap in them and can exasperate skin issues. You might switch to using a wet wash rag instead of wipes. Also, coat the baby’s tush with Vaseline or diaper cream (we are HUGE fans of Boudreaux’s Butt paste - it works very well).
Both of my girls would get diaper rash in a heartbeat and certain wipes and creams would really irritate them. Frequent baths and Boudreaux’s works really well for us.
Good luck.

Hmmm, well, for us, Pampers were terrible due to them being scented. We tried every diaper we could find, and ended up purchasing FuzziBunz pocket diaper. Its not what you think! They are awesome! They are leak free, and can be both washed in dried normally!!! No more rash! I found them at. They are expensive, but the snaps are positioned where they could fit a small or large baby, so the money actually ends up being less than if you were to buy disposables. You might want to purchase cloth wipes as well. Just use water to wipe babies bottom, then throw it in the diaper pail along with the diaper until you are ready to throw them in the washer! Its worth a try!

My son had really sensitive skin when he was an infant and I tried all kinds of diapers, but seventh generation worked the best. His rash would clear up in a day. They can be hard to find at grocery stores but H.E.B. sells them if you have on in your area or 1800diapers.com and they are a lot cheaper there. They are chlorine, perfume, and dye free, so they don’t have cute little characters on them, but they worked well for my child. Good luck!

Oh, I had the same thing with my daughter, tried every brand, and Luvs was the only thing that worked.

For some babies, cloth is the only thing that won’t irritate them. And some babies can’t wear cloth. So yes, diapers can make a huge difference. And different brands of disposables work differently from baby to baby.
I also want to suggest that maybe she could have a yeast or fungal infection if her doctor hasn’t looked into that. My son had a fungal infection and his ped. told us to use lotrimin on him twice a day and it cleared up in 48 hours and looked better in 12.

I second the suggestions for Fuzzibunz and I would like to add BumGenius and prefolds with a wool cover into consideration. Whatever you decide, lose the commercial baby wipes and use wet washcloths instead. You can cut up old T shirts and throw them away if you like.
Seriously, cloth is so easy, and it’s cuter, cheaper, healthier and doesn’t leak. I could go on and on. Cloth diapers are a guaranteed cure!
Edit: Someone said that not all babies can wear cloth. Not true. If the diapers irritate baby, then you tweak your washing routine. My MIL uses that as an excuse, but she often forgets to mention the amount of chlorine bleach she used. No wonder her child had a rash! I don’t own bleach.

For babies with sensitive skin… Use diapers and WIPES with no perfume… NON-scented is the way to go…
For the rash… air dry her little bum and try… oh, there’s a new diaper rash product out…. who knows that? I haven’t had an infant in the house for years!!

Poor baby!!! I think cloth is the best option. It’s not the cloth our parents use either! They’re great! After making the switch, I hate disposibles. They smell horrible with all those chemicals and gels. My favorite are BumGenius that are one size. They grow with your baby. For night, I love solid print Happy Heinys. Both types have a fleece top layer that wisks the wetness away leaving your baby very dry even if the insert is soaking wet.
If you don’t feel up to cloth, I’ve heard the Seventh Generation diapers are a bit better because they have much less chemicals in them. They sell them where I live at natural markets and I saw them at Target once. When your baby is in diapers fora long period of time, buy some cheap fleece and wash it without fabric softener and put that over the inside of the diaper next to your baby’s skin. You can wash them or toss them. Raw silk is also an excellent rash preventer.
Good luck to your and your daughter.
