What to do about an unusual diaper rash?

My sister’s son has an odd diaper rash, in the sense that it is not in the usual location. Instead, the rash is located on his lower stomach and upper bottom, instead of of his crotch. We think it could be a contact rash from the abbrasion of the diaper but we’re not sure. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this and what they did for it, and if that could be an allergy to the diaper itself.

put cornstarch where the rash is and it will take it away if it doesn’t by monday then check with the doc.

my daughter has a rash like that. i took her to the pediatrician and he said its a baby yeast infection. i’m not sure if boys can get yeast infections though?….

use eosine without alcohol.I used it for my daughter when she had a very bad rash and it did wonders. good luck

My daughter had this at 4 weeks because of the rubbing friction from the nappy causing a rash. I used Sudacrem and just layered it on so some soaked in and also acts as a barrier. Within a week it was gone and has not come back since, she is now 9 weeks.

My son had a rash on the entire area above his penis to the top of his diaper. It was from sitting in a wet diaper at night. Slather on some rash cream before bed and during the day until it clears. In the future make it a habit to use diaper cream each night.
He suddenly had it happen for the first time at 8 months and had never had an issue in the past.

i would say corn starch, let it air out , and try a diff diaper. maybe check to make sure his diapers are not to small on him

My son had a rash over his genitals too. I took him to the doc and it was a yeast infection not a rash. They prescribed an anti-fungal cream but you can get the same effect with athlete’s foot cream.

my baby had kind of same on this tummy .he is 6 month old partly due to he is sitting and nappy rubs against his tummy.he was really red at places,what i do now is after 2-3 nappy changes i wash him in nappy area dry it give little air with paper hand fan or hair dryer make sure not from near heat will not be good at genitals soft skin.keep it fairly far.then put some baby powder on him n gently spread it allover nappy area.and at night time i use sudocrem(nappy rash cream)on him.i found sudecrem works wonders.so my boy is fine now.once in a while when he gets it i leave him washed n dried for 10 minutes.

My son had a problem with chronic diaper rashes and I think he did get at least one on his lower stomach. I did think that it was from abrasion of the diaper or something like that. However, it was so hard to tell because he was so sensitive and the only way we could stop his constant, painful rashes was to forgo wipes all together and just use plain water and a towel to dry.
I think that in general, the best thing for all of his rashes was just letting it get some air, which is really hard if your nephew is still tiny because they pee so randomly, but sometimes it just works best. It’s good to just take the diaper off and rest a towel over the area while he lays on his back or front, whichever side needs less airing. The best diaper rash cream we used by far was triple paste, we won’t use anything else.

My daughter had the same rash and it was a yeast infection. The doc told me to buy a cream from the pharmacy called Clotrimazole (for athletes foot) and the next day, it was gone.

there extra moister or its rubbing the area use diaper rash cream and warm baths and the rash should be gone in a day or two

try a brand of diaper rash cream called butt paste it works wonders on everything and also make sure that they are not too tight on him. you should be able to fit at least one finger in between him and the diaper and be able to move it comfortably if not the diaper is probably too tight on him. and if it does not clear up in a few days talk to his doctor about it
