At what age did your kids outgrow the stroller?

I have a very active eighteen-month old and a very tall three-and-a-half year old. Until recently, I’ve been able to pack them up into our double stroller and head out for a walk. Lately, it’s been a nightmare! They both fuss and fight the WHOLE time we’re out - the younger can’t stand being restrained and the elder complains about not having enough room.

my daughter is rather independant. by the time she was 2 she rarely used it, in fact if I did bring it, she would end up pushing it part ways as it was empty. However for the zoo or long long walks, up until 4 yet.

When you spend more time pushing it empty than pushing it with the kids in it.
It depends on the kid.

my daughter is 3 and she still uses a stroller when we go out only because she likes to wander off. she doesnt like to be restrained either, especially when we are sitting somewhere, but as long as we are moving she is usually fine. I’m due with my second in April and I’ve been wondering how the stroller situation is going to work. I’ve thought about buying a double but i think im going to try one of those ‘backpack harnesses’ for my daughter first so she can still walk around but can’t get too far.

My son is 4 and I still put him in one. But thats because he is a special needs little boy and its just easyer to put him in a stroller.

My kids were out of the stroller by the time they were 18 months, except for really big expeditions or places I was really afraid they’d get lost (walks over a mile or next to major traffic, day at the fair or museum, long trip to the mall, etc.). Even for those types of trips, we didn’t use the stroller after they turned 3 (unless we brought it for a younger sibling who of course never wanted to be in it, at which point we’d occasionally let an older sibling ride around) I’d rather have them walking and getting some exercise … and so would they!

I have 3yr old twin girls that can still sit in their jogging stroller since it holds up to 80lbs. The could still fit in their tandem stroller but its more of a pain to take around since they can walk!! but I wouldnt want to take them out of the stroller if I had an 18mth old.

My kids were out of a stroller by 2. They all prefered to walk, so I let them. We were all much happier once the stroller was out of the picture. The going was slow, due to little legs, but there was no crying and screaming!

I have a grandson who is turning 5 this week and he still loves his stroller- BUT he’s a teeny-tiny 28 pounds and has little, teeny, skinny legs- when we go to places like England on vacation, or Disneyland… places where there is lots of walking, it’s just easier for him to ride, although he can certainly walk whenever he wants. We don’t make him stay in the stroller- he wants to! And we still have a place to store purses and packages!
